Hi, I’m Priscilla. I’m a minister, an animal lover, and someone who walks alongside people through the joys and sorrows of loving animals.
You might be here because something hurts.
Maybe you’ve just said goodbye to your animal companion. Maybe that goodbye is coming. Or maybe you're in a space that has no name, just a heavy heart and no one to talk to about it.
The grief we carry for animals is often heavy, personal, and misunderstood.
You may feel guilt, sorrow, confusion, or even shame; and still not feel like there’s a place to bring it. Friends may not understand. Therapists may not feel quite right. And yet, the pain is very real.
How I Can Support You as an Animal Chaplain
I’m a trained and ordained animal chaplain, certified by the Compassion Consortium, with over 35 years of ministry experience. I’ve sat with people through many forms of grief, and I know: there is no script for how love ends, or how we mourn it. My role is to be a compassionate presence—a witness, not a fixer. I work wherever there are animals and wherever there is love.
My Story : A Life of Ministry and A Heart for Animals
My path here has been a long one. I spent decades as a congregational minister in Massachusetts. My father was a minister, my mother a veterinarian, and my love for animals has always been interwoven with a call to service.
During the pandemic, I found myself reflecting deeply on the hidden grief we carry for animals. I began to notice how often people shared heartbreak over a pet, or how grief would surface unexpectedly in the stories they shared with me.
I realized that what I felt called to was a kind of ministry without walls. One that was centered on presence, compassion, and the rituals that help us honor love and navigate loss.
One day, I opened an email from my denomination and found a small note at the bottom about a UCC minister who had left the pulpit to become an animal chaplain.
I remember thinking, “This is everything I’ve been looking for.” I went straight to my computer and looked up animal chaplaincy — and within hours, I had enrolled in the program. It brought together all the parts of who I am: minister, listener, animal lover, and spiritual companion.
Today, I’m a trained and ordained animal chaplain, certified by the Compassion Consortium. I’m here to walk alongside people — not to preach or persuade, but to listen and to love work wherever there are animals, and wherever there are people who love them.
